Wherever you are

Pilates, brought to you.

Everything except the reformer travels. Mat work at your hotel, your villa, a retreat or on the sand — on your own, or with a group you bring.

What travels, and what doesn't

The reformer stays where it is — it is a heavy machine and it lives at the studio. Everything else comes with the instructor: mats, props, and the method itself, which began on the floor long before the machine existed and has never stopped working there.

Mat Pilates is not the consolation prize. It is the original form of the work and, in some respects, the harder one: with no springs to assist you, the control has to come from you. What it gives up in precision it gains in portability, which is exactly the trade you want when you are three weeks into a trip and not going anywhere near a studio.

Where it works

A terrace, a garden, a deck, a room with the furniture pushed back, a shaded patch of sand. The requirement is genuinely small: a reasonably flat, reasonably quiet space roughly the size of a large towel per person, and enough headroom to reach overhead. If you are not sure whether your place works, send a photo and you will get a straight answer.

Hotels, villas, rental houses and retreats around the Popoyo area all work. There is no venue to book and nothing to hire — the session arrives, happens, and leaves.

On your own, or with a group you bring

One to one is the same as a studio session in everything but the equipment: a conversation about your body first, then an hour programmed around what it needs that day.

Group sessions work differently, and it is worth being clear about how. You bring the people — a retreat's guests, a villa full of friends, a family, a couple of housemates. The session is then built for that specific group and that specific space, which is only possible because it is not a drop-in class with strangers of unknown experience.

There is no timetable and no schedule to fit around. You message, we find a time, it happens. That also means there is nothing for an individual to sign up to — if you are on your own and want company, the honest answer is to bring someone.

Retreats and groups staying a while

If you are running a retreat or hosting a house for a week, sessions can be set up as a run across the stay rather than one at a time. That works better for everyone: the programming can build instead of resetting each morning, and your guests get something that progresses rather than a one-off.

Message with the dates, the rough number of people and where you are staying, and you will get a straight answer on what is possible.

Book a session where you are.

Send a message on WhatsApp with where you're staying, when, and how many of you there are. A person answers, usually the same day.
